VFYW: A Goddess, Orbs, And A Lucky Black Cat
For contest #321, we travel to a beautiful town built on ancient ruins.
Back in contest #307 from Santa Monica, the winner, Curt, had a wild coincidence: he once lived on the same block as the window’s submitter, Moye, a renowned ceramicist. (Curt didn’t realize the coincidence until after he sent the winning entry.) For the contest prize, Moye offered to create a few of her signature orbs. Here’s an update from Moye:
Hello Chris! Curt just stopped by our house to pick up his VFYW prize. You’ll see that I actually made two little balls so he could see the quote and the beagle at same time. He’s driving them up to his new home in Lone Pine. As it happens, Curt and I discovered that the Lone Pine contest was the very first contest that each of us entered! Glad to know VFYW is a force for unity not division in this world. Sending love from two Dishheads in California!
Here’s Curt, with a closer look at Moye’s balls:
I’m now in the possession of a whole collection of Moye Thompson orbs! What enormous pleasure and abundance. I am quite astounded — to think that playing the View challenge would result in such a sweet reconnection with Moye and Doug, and give me this lovely group of meaningful beautiful objects. Really, I am sort of overwhelmed with gratitude.
Thank you, Chris! And don’t forget you always have a place to park your Airstream any time you choose to pass through the Owens Valley again.
I foresee a group photo of the three of us this summer. On to this week’s contest — one of the most challenging in a long time; only four readers got the right town.
